How to pay and get your I.V.V. stamps.
Distance: 12km Grade 2
Leave main coach/car parks at the 'exit' end, turn RIGHT (north) along the Battlefield Heritage Centre access road and follow it downhill to the T- Junction. Cross over the main road to metal gate, plank bridge and yellow marker post (YMP). Continue in same direction across field to go through gap at next YMP and turn left along edge of field with hedge on left. As the ground starts to drop downhill turn diagonally right on footpath across field to YMP at end of hedge. There keep ahead in same direction aiming for gap in trees.
Cross footbridge and bear right with trees and hedge on right to wide gap. Here turn right and keep to edge of field to next YMP near large tree. Go through gap and continue along right side of next field. Just beyond a large Oak tree turn right at YPM to cross footbridge and grassy area and then turn left along a surfaced lane (Sutton Lane) for 1 km to the start of the houses in Market Bosworth town.

Continue straight ahead over the staggered crossroads and into Market Place (or The Square). [ BUS STOP/alternative start point.] Turn right at next junction into Main Street [public toilets down Back Lane across the road] and right again opposite the 'Red Lion' pub into Park Street. Cross to the left-hand pavement and next to house No 31 turn left up an alleyway to enter the churchyard. Follow the path round to the left past the church and exit via a gateway. Immediately turn sharp right through another (wrought iron) gateway onto a drive, taking another immediate right turn along a short gravel track into a car park.
Bear half left to the car park exit (facing the large ornamental gateway of Bosworth Hall Hotel) and there turn right along the drive to the main road with the best view of Bosworth Hall over to your left. Cross over the main road into Market Bosworth Country Park [ Public Toilets at car park to left] and walk across the grass aiming for a small, fenced weather station

Continue to the lake (Bow Pool) in the far right hand corner. Walk around the right hand side of the lake and at the end go straight ahead through trees to a fenced enclosure. Turn right in front of the enclosure and descend the gradual slope near edge of wood to first (yellow marker post) YMP on left. Here turn left through kissing gate onto the wooded 'Leicestershire Round' footpath. After 700 m pass 'Looking Glass Pond' (no name board) on right, ascend a slope and continue ahead through metal gate at YMP After emerging from the trees cross a farm track (via metal gate) and go straight ahead on grass path along left edge of field passing farmhouse, hedge and then Spring Wood on left whilst gradually descending the hill. Bear left at bottom of field over brook and then right (YMP on left) up rough track passing small pond on left. Go ahead on grass to YMP at end of hedge on right and then straight up centre of field to hedgerow at top. (Ignore other YMPs over to your left). Go through gap at YMP and ahead to next YMP at end of hedge on left. Here turn sharp left through gap and cross field on path towards the brick building. Go through metal kissing gate and bear LEFT across hotel car park.
Q3, Name of small brick building on left side of car park?
At road turn right to the front of the 'Royal Arms Hotel' [pub/restaurant] in Sutton Cheney.Continue on right-hand pavement past 'The Hall' on left to St James's church entrance on right. Turn right and pass through two gates to enter churchyard. Follow path around left side of church, descend through another gate to lane by cottages and then cross to pavement on far side of road. Turn right and follow bend round to left at T-junction (signposted ' Shenton 2'). After another 400m (just over the brow of the hill) turn left into a former car park and immediately right to descend through a metal gate. Follow the 'Leicestershire Round' footpath with hedge on right along the edge of four fields to arrive back at the Battlefield Heritage Centre car/coach parks.[ Cafe/restaurant, picnic tables, toilets exhibitions, gift shop].
Cross access road from car/coach parks 'exit' and follow the gravel path uphill across the centre of field towards flagpole. At the walk-through sundial turn left to the View Point overlooking the acctual site of the Battle of Bosworth on 22 August 1485. Return to the sundial and turn left. Go through gap in wooden fence ahead and follow gravel path down Ambion Hill with hedge on right. Cross track via two small metal gates to reach Shenton Station [Battlefield Steam Railway, cafe]. Use foot crossing over the railway and bear right across car park [toilets on left] to exit.

Turn left along road for 400m to a red brick house on the right immediately after the canal bridge. Opposite the house turn left along a short path and then right along the Ashby Canal towpath with the canal on your left to the next bridge.

turn right through a wooden gate and ascend the gravel slope to turn left over the canal. Walk along the old railway track between the trees for approx 125m to the view point on the left. About 75m further on turn right up the slope and follow the path around to the right into Ambion Wood. Keep to the official path along the edge of this private woodland to emerge at King Richard's Well [Also known as King Dick's Well].
Go through gap in hedge and take the gravel path along the bottom edge of the field back to the Battlefield Heritage Centre and coach/car parks.
